LiDAR Assisted CityGML Creation

Abstract


This report describes ways of creating multi level building models using the CityGML model. A fusion of various data such as LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) data and aerial imagery is used to derive the necessary 3D information for CityGML creation. Laser scanning data has been used to provide height information for both digital terrain modeling and building models. High resolution imagery in form of Google images (orthophotos) have been used as auxiliary data for the digitization of object footprints. Acceptable results for the various CityGML levels of detail for the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (HfT Stuttgart) campus have been produced.
