Abstract

Nowadays spatial related data is getting more attention and considered to be very important. Many organizations and even countries now consider spatial data as one of their assets for development. This is due to the reason that it identifies geographic location of features and boundaries on earth. With this information a country or an organization can identify their geographical strengths and weaknesses.

The World Health Organization has also realized this potential in spatial data to help mitigate and control the spread of diseases around the globe. In order to cater this notion they developed a simple user friendly GIS tool and services which helps the organization perform their daily GIS routines and spread information to the people who are concerned. These tools and services are The Health Mapper, The Global Health Atlas and The Remote Field Data Collection Tool. These tools and services are available to be downloaded from the WHO website. This paper will describe the main functionalities of the available tools and services developed by WHO.
